A few practical details to help you settle in, relax and enjoy your stay.
Everyday essentials
Kitchen & dishwasher
The kitchen has a cooktop, wall oven, microwave, dishwasher and coffee makers. Turn the cooktop and oven off when you finish cooking.
Before checkout, load dirty dishes into the dishwasher and start a cycle. Message your host through Airbnb or Vrbo if you need help with an appliance.
Laundry
The washer and dryer are in the second-floor laundry room. Follow the controls and the care labels on your items.
If you have time before checkout, starting a load of used towels is appreciated but optional. Please leave the beds as they are.
Electric fireplace

- Power: Press Power on the remote or the power icon on the front panel.
- Heat: Use Heater/Temp to cycle through settings or switch the heat off. Check the unit’s display for the selected temperature.
- Flames: Use Flame to change colors and Brightness to adjust the intensity.
- Timer: Press Timer to select an automatic shut-off time, checking the display for the selected duration.
Window shades
Motorized shades
For the large sliding-door shades on the main floor and in the primary bedroom, use the Hunter Douglas Pebble remote on the wall.
- Choose shade 1 or 2, or ALL for both.
- Press Open to raise or Close to lower.
- Press Stop at the height you want, or Favorite for the preset halfway position.
Wand & cord controls
For UltraGlide shades, use short, gentle pulls: at a 45-degree angle away from the fabric to lower, or straight down repeatedly to raise. The wand stays the same length.
For continuous cord-loop shades, pull one side of the loop to raise and the other to lower. Keep the loop attached to its wall tensioner.
Cordless vacuum
The Shark cordless vacuum is on the mudroom wall mount. Unplug the charging cord and lift it off the hanger. Press Power, then choose ECO, Auto/IQ or BOOST as needed.
After use, detach the floor wand, hold the dust cup over a trash can and release the door to empty it. Close the lid, hang the vacuum securely and reconnect the charger.
Office printer
The printer is an HP LaserJet M110w (0A8bc9). Spare paper is in the console underneath it.
Connect your Apple device to the house Wi-Fi, open your document, tap Share → Print, and choose the printer. For Wi-Fi access or connection help, use your private guest details or contact your host.
A thoughtful stay
Quiet hours & gatherings
Quiet hours are 10:00 PM–7:00 AM daily. Keep music, outdoor conversations and television at a respectful volume.
For the Sonos system, move music indoors between 10:00 PM and 8:00 AM and keep the volume moderate. Parties, large gatherings and disruptive events are not permitted. Maximum overnight occupancy is 10 guests.
Smoking & pets
No smoking or vaping anywhere on the property, including the house, porch, patios and grounds. This includes tobacco, cannabis, e-cigarettes, vape pens, hookah and other substances that create smoke, vapor or lingering odor.
The existing house policy specifies a $500 cleaning and remediation fee for evidence of smoking or lingering smoke or vape odor inside the home. Violations may result in cancellation without a refund and removal from the property.
Pets are not allowed. Please respect the house’s pet-free policy.
If something breaks
Accidents happen. Please message us through Airbnb or Vrbo as soon as you notice damage or something that isn’t working. Include a photo when helpful. Stop using any item that appears unsafe.
Trash & recycling
Trash — black bin
Place tightly bagged trash in the black bin beside the fence in the back alley.
The guide’s regular collection day is Wednesday morning, with the bin out by 6:00 AM. Position it about 3 feet in front of the garage, facing the alley, with 2 feet of clearance on each side. Return it beside the fence after collection.
Recycling — purple bin
The purple bin is beside the house, behind the front gate. Put recyclables in loose, without plastic bags. Empty the white collection bag into the bin and put the bag in the regular trash.
Recycling is collected every other Wednesday morning. Put the bin out by 6:00 AM on the street in front of the house, then return it behind the gate after pickup.
Safety essentials
For a life-threatening emergency, call 911.
Give the emergency operator the property address from your private guest details. Keep the street and access routes clear for emergency vehicles.
Fire extinguishers & first aid
- Main floor: Under the kitchen sink.
- Second floor: Laundry room, right-hand cabinet above the dryer.
- Third floor: Under the wet-bar sink.
- Basement: Under the wet-bar sink.
The first aid kit is in the main-floor kitchen island: the left cabinet when you face the sink with your back to the stove.
Alarms
Smoke and carbon monoxide alarms are installed in bedrooms, hallways and living levels. If an alarm sounds, leave the building immediately. Notify your host about a chirping alarm or an equipment concern.
